SDI  and Ethernet100/1000 transport.

SDI signals and Ethernet connectivity are provided over a single fiber.

In the following example the maximum number of SDI signals is implemented. It takes two ProBox family PBX devices.

A device provides:

  • four SDI

  • one Ethernet 100/1000 link with a 2-port switch.

The direction of SDI transmission is user-defined at the ordering stage.

PBX indexing explained

Please note that number of transmitters (#Tx) + number of receivers (#Rx) must be equal to 4:

Capability to increase the number of SDI signals.

PBX comes with two CWDM sub-bands. It is possible to daisy-chain two PBX devices of different sub-bands at an UPGRADE optical port thus obtaining up to eight SDI signals and two Ethernet100/1000 links in a single optical fiber.

By default the following models are used:

Remote side

PBX-0R4TE1F – four-channel SDI Tx + Ethernet (1470..1610nm)

PBX-2R2TE1FL – two-channel SDI Tx + two-channel SDI Rx + Ethernet (1270..1450nm)

Base station

PBX-4R0TE1F – four-channel SDI Rx + Ethernet (1470..1610nm)

PBX-2T2RE1FL – two-channel SDI Rx + two-channel SDI Tx + Ethernet (1270..1450nm)

Audio, InterCom, RS-232/422 transport.

Audio signals, InterCom and RS-232/422 transport occupy the second fiber by means of the ProBox family module from PBX-AF-100 series.

One unit of PBX-AF-100 provides:

  • up to four stereo pairs or two AES/EBU channels

  • an InterCom channel (MIC input, PHONE output)

  • two RS-232/422 ports

  • four GPIO ports

Depending on the SFP type inserted in the PBX-AF-100 this module is configured as:

  • two stereo pairs or two AES/EBU for transmission + two stereo pairs or two AES/EBU for reception (by the TR-indexed SFP)

  • four stereo pairs or four AES/EBU for transmission (by the TX-indexed SFP)

  • four stereo pairs or four AES/EBU for reception (by the RX-indexed SFP)

The audio format (analog or AES) is user-selectable:

  • AA – four analog stereo pairs

  • AE – two analog stereo pairs and two AES/EBU channels

  • EE – four AES/EBU channels

The default model is PBX-AF-100-8AA-TR1F.
