PCOV-7326 series HDSDI/SDI/ASI changeover

PROFLEX™ PCOV-7326 series HDSDI/SDI/ASI changeovers protect (HD)SDI/ASI transmission line.
The automatic and manual changeover action is performed by a latching relay.
Changeover criterios:

  • input signal loss
  • EDH/CRC errors
  • SMPTE sync word errors (ASI only)
  • user-selectable combination of the above criterios

General description

The MAIN and the STDBY input signals are applied to the latching relay and to the automatic cable equalizers. Normalized and reclocked signals are analysed in the SDI/ASI processor to detect transmission errors and make the changeover decision.
The MON output provides either input line for monitoring in user-selectable form: as at the input or encoded into PAL/NTSC (in case of SDI input standard).

Changeover algorithm

When any of criterios are met (input signal loss, EDH errors, SMPTE sync word errors (ASI only) the user-presettable changeover delay interval timer is started (0,1~9,9 sec). If condition reappears within this interval - the changeover takes place instantly.
Note: The longer the interval the higher the probability of repetitive errors and, therefore, the changeover action. However, if the standby line also has errors - no changeover action will take place no matter the errors in the main signal.
In the PCOV-7326-1 and PCOV-7326-2 models the auxiliary channels are switched along with the main one.

GPI control capabilities

  • local GPI
By grounding a relevant contact it is possible to activate the following modes:
    • PRG GPI input contact group:
      • PRG AUTO IN - enables the automatic changeover on an input signal error(s) condition
      • PRG MAIN IN - selects the MAIN input for the output
      • PRG STANDBY IN - selects the STANDBY input for the output
    • MON GPI input contact group:
      • MON MAIN IN - selects the MAIN input for the monitor output
      • MON STANDBY IN - selects the STANDBY input for the output
    • GPI OUTPUT contact group:
      • MAIN OUT - grounded when the MAIN input is selected for the output
      • STANDBY OUT - grounded when the STANDBY input is selected for the output

Local control
All local means of control and indication are located on the frontal panel of the PCOV-7326 module.

Controls

The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them. The MAIN button selects the main line, the STBY - the backup one, a simultaneous depression of the MAIN and STBY buttons enables the automatic line selection mode.

Indicators

  • IN USE MAIN – lit when the main input is selected for the output
  • IN USE STBY – lit when the stand-by input is selected for the output
  • IN USE AUTO – lit when automatic selection mode is enabled
  • LOSS MAIN/STBY – lit when main or stand-by input signal is lost
  • EDH MIN MAIN/STBY – lit when an EDH error was detected during the last minute interval in respective channel
  • EDH DET MAIN/STBY – lit when EDH packets are detected in respective channel
  • INP MAIN/STBY – lit when an input signal is detected in respective channel

When under the GPI control (PRG AUTO IN, PRG MAIN IN, PRG STANDBY IN), the relevant buttons are locked-out and indicators blink.

The remote control and management from a PC

All the “PROFLEX” modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
