PDFE-3307 series SDIembedded synchronizers

PROFLEX™ PDFE-3307 series SDIembedded synchronizers accept the SDI signals providing the synchronization the a REF black-burst input. The audio delay follows video, audio delay and gain may be manually adjusted.

PDFE-3307 provides the PAL monitor output with a bargraph OSD four-channel audio level meter.

General description

PDFE-3307 simplified schematic

The input SDI signal is equalized, reclocked and decoded into the 10-bits 4:2:2 stream which is processed to recover video and audio. Video stream is buffered and synchronized to the REF signal. The deembedded audio is buffered and a user-controllable delay is applied. The resulting audio stream is reembedded into an output SDI. The monitor output provides the PAL picture with the audio level meter OSD.

Controls and indicators

Controls and indicators are located on the PDFE-3307 frontal panel.

Controls:

  • MODE: toggles through the list of editable modes
  • DOWN/UP: edit the currently selected menu entry
    The simultaneous depression of the DOWN and UP buttons resets the menu entry to the factory default value.
  • FREEZE – the frame freeze mode ON/OFF

Menu entry selection indicators:

  • INP GROUP SEL – audio group number selection for the deembedding
  • OUT GROUP SEL – audio group number selection for the embedding
  • AUD SOURCE – audio input selection
  • TON – 1kHz test tone ON/OFF
  • VU METR – audio level meter's OSD position and ON/OFF status
  • TIMING H – output SDI H-timing to the REF
  • TIMING V – output SDI V-timing to the REF
  • TIMING AUD DELAY – audio delay in TV frame increments
  • FREEZE – lit when the frame freeze mode is enabled
  • GAIN 1/2 – lit when the audio gain is being preset in the 1st channel pair
  • GAIN 3/4 – lit when the audio gain is being preset in the 2nd channel pair

PDFE-3307 status indicators:

  • ADVANCE – output SDI signal advance/delay status to the REF indication
  • AUD DET – lit when the input SDI signal contains the embedded audio
  • EDH MIN/HOUR – lit if the EDH error was detected within the last minute/hour interval
  • INP – lit when the input SDI signal is detected
  • REF – lit when the REF signal is present

The remote control and management from a PC

All the PROFLEX™ modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
