PORC-3272 series 8-channel TDM SDI/ASI optical receivers with RS-422 data support

PORC-3272 optical receivers provide the Time Division deMultiplexing of up to eight SDI or ASI electrical streams received over a single optical wavelength signal. PORC-3272 is intended to pair with the POTM-3252 optical transmitter. PORC-3272 module occupies two slots in the PROLFEX 1U/3U racks so that up to two receivers fit into a 1U rack and up to eight into a 3U rack.

Features

  • up to eight electrically multiplexed SDI/ASI streams over single optical fiber
  • single optical signal in the WDM/CWDM band
  • up to sixteen channels received using two optical DEMUX in WDM band
  • up to one hundred twenty eight channels received using sixteen optical DEMUX in CWDM band
  • signal loss indication
  • fault tolerant reception - loss of any electrical input signals does not affect the remaining
  • CRC/EDH status indication
  • automatic changeover to a stand-by optical fiber on the main input signal loss
  • >

General description

PORC-3272 simplified schematics:

An input optical signal of a single wavelength is detected and converted into electrical form. An electrical signal is deserialized by means of the TDM (TimeDivision deMultiplexing) and up to four SDI or DVB/ASI signals are recovered. These signals are available at electrical outputs.

Controls and indicators

PORC-3272 frontal panel:

The controls:

  • IN USE MAIN – manually selects the main optical input
  • IN USE STBY – manually selects the stand-by optical input
  • AUTO – automatically selects an active optical input
  • MON – press this button to select any of eight channels to the monitor output

The indicators:

  • LOSS – lit when an optical signal is lost on an input (main or stand-by respectively)
  • INP – lit if there is a valid optical signal on an input (main or stand-by respectively)
  • CRC – lit if a there was an CRC error whithin the last minute interval
  • OUT 1..8 – lit when there is a valid SDI or DVB-ASI stream within a channel

The remote control and management from a PC

All the “PROFLEX” modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
