PORC-7229 AA/AE/EE series optical receivers with analog/AES audio input and unidirectional RS-232 data support

PROFLEX™ PORC-7229 series optical receivers convert an optical signal into electrical, suport SDIembedded synchronization to the REF. The optical input of PORC-7229 is based on the hot-swappable SFP module with the RX power monitoring facility.
An audio delay follows video, the SD and HD signal may be used as the REF for synchronization.
The analog/EAS audio input provides the embedding capability into output SD/HD SDI signals.
The auxiliary HDMI output provides the bargraph audio level meter (quazi-peak and UV) OSD.
PORC-7229 module occupies two slots in the PROLFEX 1U/3U racks.

PORC-7229(A)-4 optical receivers are intended to pair with the POTM-7205-4 (if RS-232 communication is nesessary) or any other HD/SD SDI compatible optical transmitters.

General description

PORC-7229 accepts the optical signal on it's SFP RX module, which demodulates the input signal down to HD/SD SDI electrical form. SDI is decoded into a 10-bits 4:2:2 stream which is processed by a video/audio processor. The video/audio processor deembedds the audio and synchronizes the streams to the external REF. The HD/SD SDI video is available on two reclocked outputs.

Controls and indicators

The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them.

  • INP - input signal format selection
  • BARS - built-in color bar generator ON/OFF
  • ASSIGN A/B EXT/GROUP/CH - audio channel outputs mapping (selects a group and a channel from the input SDI or an external source to be reembedded into a new output group's channels 1 and 2)
  • GAIN A/B - the audio gain presets in a selected stereo pair or AES signal
  • TON - the built-in 1kHz test tone generator ON/OFF
  • OUT GROUP - a group number select/disable for a remapped audio
  • H/V TIMING - the timing within a TV line/frame relative to the REF signal

Status indicators:

  • EDH/CRC MIN/HOUR - lit if two or more EDH/CRC errors were detected within one hour/minute interval. Both LEDs flash if there is no input video.
  • REF UNLOCK - lit if:
    • no REF input signal present
    • the built-in sync-gen is not locked to the input REF signal
    • the input REF signal is not of the same standard as an input HD/SD SDI
  • LOSS - lit when SDI input is lost
  • BARS - lit when the color bars are being inserted

Remote control from a PC

All “PROFLEX”-family devices are capable of a remote control from a PC via a PROFITT's proprietaty software packege. An optional CPU module installed in a PROFLEX rack provides the RS-232/RS-485/Ethernet connectivity.
