POTM-3251SFP series 4-channel TimeDivisionMultiplexed SDI/ASI optical transmitters

POTM-3251SFP optical transmitters provide the Time Division Multiplexing of up to four SDI or DVB-ASI electrical streams to transmit over a single optical wavelength signal. The hot-swappable SFP optical module allows for the laser replacement (for example - to change the wavelength) without depowering the POTM-3251 optical transmitter. POTM-3251SFP module occupies one slot in the PROLFEX 1U/3U racks so that up to four transmitters fit into a 1U rack and up to fifteen into a 3U rack.

General description

POTM-3251SFP simplified schematics:

An input SDI or DVB/ASI signals are serialized by means of the TDM (TimeDivision Multiplexing). The serialized data is converted into an optical signal of a single wavelength which is available at the optical output.

The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them.

  • MON - lit when an input channel number is being assigned for monitor output (with the UP/DOWN buttons)
  • CHANNEL TEST SEL 1...4 - lit when a channel number is being assigned for test signal insertion
  • λ, nm - lit when lasers' wavelength is being shown at the mail display
  • TxPw - lit when lasers' output optical power is being shown at the mail display (in dBm)

The indicators:

  • LOCK 1...4 – lit if there is a valid SDI or DVB-ASI input signal on a channel
  • TEST 1...4 – lit when a test signal is being inserted in a channel

Test signal selection

Toggling the MODE button select the CHANNEL TEST SEL 1...4 mode. Pressing the UP and DOWN buttons select a test signal or disable it.

  • OF – a test signal is OFF
  • bR - color bar signal is being inserted
  • bL - black field is being inserted
  • Lt - white field is being inserted
  • Pt - pathological pattern is being inserted

The remote control and management from a PC

All the “PROFLEX” modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
