PENC-3338 series SDI-to-PAL/YC/YUV/RGB/SDI monitoring encoder |
PROFLEX™ PENC-3338 series monitoring encoder provides the capability to monitor the D1 270Mbps SDI input signal by means of converting it into the PAL/YC/YUV/RGB/SDI format with the bargraph OSD of four-channel audio level metering. PENC-3338 occupies one slot in the PROFLEX rack.
Features
- automatic cable equalizer

General description
An input SDI signal is equalised and reclocked. A serial stream is decoded into a 10-bits 4:2:2 which is processed to extract the video and audio, EDH status is detected. The audio signal from a user-selected group is then analyzed in the four-channel level meter. The video signal is provided at the output in SDI/PAL(NTSC)/YC/YUV/RGB formats with the bargraph audio level OSD overlayed.
Controls and indicators
PENC-3338 frontal panel
The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them.
- OUT STD – output signal standard selection:
- CS – two composite PAL/NTSC and one component C
- YC – one composite PAL/NTSC and one component YC
- Yu – one component YPrPb
- rG – one component RGB
- GROUP SEL – audio group selection for deembedding, (Ø1, Ø2, Ø3, Ø4). The "12" and "34" LEDs indicate the audio group presence in the input SDIembedded signal
- VU OFF – audio level meter OSD enable/disable
- DBU/DBFS – audio level meter scale selection:
- dBU, (quasi-analog, 0dBU corresponds to 0,775VRMS), shown as "db"
- dBFS (EBU R68, 0dBFS corresponds to +18 dBu, shown as "FS"
- VU POS – audio level meter OSD horizontal position selection
Indicators:
- LOSS – lit when the input SDI signal loss is detected
- EDH DET – lit when the EDH packets are detected in the input SDI
- EDH MIN/HOUR – lit if two or more EDH errors were detected within one hour/minute interval
- AUD DET – lit when embedded audio packets are detected in the input SDI
- 12/34 – lit when embedded audio packets are detected in the selected group
- 625 – lit when the input signal standard is 625/50
- 525 – lit when the input signal standard is 525/60
The remote control and management from a PC
All the “PROFLEX” modules are remote controllable from a PC. This facility is available if a rack is fitted with a CPU module (ordered separately).
