PORC-3242SFP(A) series SDI/DVB-ASI optical receivers |
PORC-3242SFP(A) optical receivers convert an optical signal into electrical SDI/ASI 270Mbps stream.
PORC-3242SFP(A) module occupies one slot in the PROLFEX 1U/3U racks so that up to four transmitters fit into a 1U rack and up to fifteen into a 3U rack.
Two modifications exist:
- PORC-3242SFP - an SFP module as the optical input with the -26dBm sensitivity
- PORC-3242SFPA - an SFP module with the APD (advanced photodiode) sensor providing the -32dBm optical sensitivity
Features
- Automatic input signal's standard detection with manual override capability
- EDH status indicators
- Signal loss indication
- Signal reclocking
- PAL/NTSC monitor output (for SDI input standard)
- High optical sensitivity (-32dBm for SDI/ASI)
- optional APD (advanced photodiode) sensor
- Two output BNC connectors for the reclocked signal

General description
An input optical signal is applied to the photodiode, converted into electrical form and amplified. After the reclocking and reshaping, the signal is available at the BNC electrical output. A copy of restored signal is processed to recover the DVB-ASI or SDI stream. For the SDI stream the EDH status is collected, the PAL/NTSC video is decoded for monitoring.

Controls and indicators
All the controls and indicators are located at the module's frontal board
The MODE button toggles through all the modes, the UP and DOWN buttons edit them.
- INP MODE – input signal standard automatic/manual selection:
- AU (AUTO) input signal standard autodetection
- ASI - manually-preselected to accept DVB-ASI only
- SDI - manually-preselected to accept SDI only
- RX POWER – display of the input RX optical power
To reset the EDH/CRC counters: press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously.
Indicators:
- LOSS – lit when no input signal is detected
- EDH DET – lit when an SDI signal with the EDH is present
- EDH MIN/HOUR – lit when two or more EDH errors were detected within one hour/one minute interval
- INPUT STATUS - input signal standard indication:
- AUTO - autodetection mode is ON
- ASI - the ASI input signal is detected
- SDI - the SDI input signal is detected
The input optical power is always negative, so in the range from -9.9 to -3.0 dBm it is displayed with the minus sign, below that rang the minus sign is omitted.
- -4.3 corresponds to -4.3dBm
- 25.5 corresponds to -25.5dBm
Remote control from a PC
All “PROFLEX”-family devices are capable of a remote control from a PC via a PROFITT's proprietaty software packege. An optional CPU module installed in a PROFLEX rack provides Ethernet connectivity.
Application example
In case of a single-fiber usage, just connect it to the receiver's input.
In case of the CWDM you should connect the receivers' inputs to an optical MUX/DEMUX observing the wavelength markings. PORC-3242 is sensitive to any wavelength in the 1100..1650nm band, it is possible to connect it to any MUX/DEMUX output to provide optical signal selectivity.
